The Ask

In partnership with ThoughtMatter, help reimagine the historically highbrow headwear industry by building a digital platform that will help amplify The Hatterist’s purpose; A meeting place for the hat-minded. Our mission is to make a hat lover out of everyone by creating a space to learn, be inspired, and connect.

Strategic Approach

Taking a lifetime of experience in sales and marketing in the fashion industry, specifically in the headwear and accessories segment. Mark used social media to share his knowledge and expertise in growing internationally known headwear brands to new levels. What began as a passion project soon became a brand with a marketable promise. Mark started The Hatterist as an Instagram account where he could connect and inspire new and existing hat lovers. As The Hatterist attracted 45,000 followers and counting, the Harrises decided to explore their brand’s potential as an independent enterprise. Combining our skillset and experiences, Mark saw an opportunity to form a collective of hat experts skilled in different headwear industry disciplines to offer a full-service consultancy that can solve any hat-related issues. In moving beyond Instagram, The Hatterist needed to determine the scope of what they would provide to their audience. In addition they needed a more clearly defined identity to communicate the brand’s purpose and distinguish it as the leading resource on hats and headwear.

Creative Solution

Following our extensive research, we saw that we could bring value to our audience in several ways. Working in partnership with ThoughtMatter, we designed an engaging platform that is both informative and entertaining. A robust digital experience that appeals to new and existing hat lovers while simultaneously showcasing the range of services The Hatterist provides for hat makers and brands, from strategy and brand marketing to design and production.

Results

The Hatterist is a consulting agency that specializes in the headwear and accessories market. From inspiration through the design process to production, sales, and beyond. As the lead strategist I was tasked with conducting qualitative and quantitative research to help uncover the unmet needs of our audience. Strategizing social media executions utilizing both existing and newly created content. ThoughtMatter established a 360 approach to creative and media strategy, which shifted the perception of the historically highbrow headwear industry, introducing the industry to a new generation and driving awareness and conversation for The Hatterist. ThoughtMatter helped positioned The Hatterist as the first digital agency for hats. Built as an extension of The Hatterist’s Instagram page, The Hatterist was constructed to house services, campaign resources, and original content, including hat care tutorials and exclusive interview content aimed to amplify stories of emerging hat makers. The Hatterist continues to develop content that embodies the brand’s new positioning, which has also help them accelerate the growth of their digital following, and has provided them with the opportunity of being featured in relevant media publishers to raise awareness of the new site, including The Hat magazine.
